For Dr. Ting Yu Yen, medicine was all in the family. “My parents are both physicians. Seeing the impact they had on their patients' health while I was growing up truly motivated me to choose the same path in medicine,” he says.

Dr. Yen has a multicultural background. He was born in Taiwan and moved to Vancouver, Canada with his parents when he was fourteen. He earned his medical degree at Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland, completed a medical internship in Taipei, Taiwan and his family medicine residency at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami, FL. In addition to English, he speaks Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese.

“I chose family medicine because I enjoy building trusting relationships with my patients while managing and treating a broad spectrum of medical issues,” he says. He believes in building that trust by being friendly, respectful, patient and conveying to patients that he is dedicated to them and their health. “What brings me the most satisfaction as a physician is being able to witness the positive impact that results on my patients’ health over time.”

When he is out of the office, Dr. Yen enjoys exploring new dining spots and trying new foods with his wife. They particularly enjoy Taiwanese cuisine such as Din Tai Fung! He also enjoys playing and watching both baseball and basketball and adding to his collection of unique sneakers.
