About
Melissa Huynh Nguyen, MD knew she wanted to become a doctor as a young child. “I was further inspired to serve others after visiting impoverished communities in Vietnam, where I frequently went to visit family,” she says. “The decision to pursue family medicine was easy once it became clear how much I enjoyed caring for all age groups while learning constantly about so many different fields of medicine.”
Dr. Huynh completed her medical school training at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and her residency in family medicine in the Long Beach Memorial Family Medicine Residency program where she was Chief Resident. “I am a firm believer in practicing patient-centered care and I will work hard to support patients at whatever place they feel comfortable as they attempt to meet their healthcare goals,” she says. “It’s incredibly rewarding to get to the point in my patient-physician relationships in which patients trust me even in their most vulnerable moments and are open in having honest conversations.”
In her free time, Dr. Huynh enjoys playing tennis, exploring new restaurants, and watching corny and likely poorly rated romantic comedies.
