Megha S Chavan, MD

Megha Chavan, MD chose a career in medicine because she was drawn to the blend of science, problem-solving, and building meaningful human connection. A third generation female healthcare provider, she was inspired by her mother and grandmother. “Watching them care for people with compassion and dedication, while balancing the responsibilities of career and family, shaped the way I view medicine and the kind of physician I hoped to become.”

Dr. Chavan chose family medicine because its breadth and continuity with patients appealed to her. She feels that being a family physician allows her to focus not only on treating illness, but also on prevention, education, and long-term wellness. 

“The rewarding part of patient care is building long-term relationships and helping patients feel comfortable, understood, and empowered in their healthcare decisions.”

Dr. Chavan spent her early years in Mumbai, India and came with her family to the United States, where she has spent the majority of her life. In addition to English, she speaks Hindi and Marathi. “I believe that while it is my privilege to provide care to my patients, I view our relationship as a partnership with a goal of attaining good health.”

In her time out of the office, Dr. Chavan likes walking and hiking the local trails in Orange County. “Experiencing different cultures through travel — especially their cuisine, art, and local traditions” — is something she deeply enjoys. At home, she loves to read, cook and taste a variety of teas.
