About

Matthew Coulson, MD, says that he chose a career in pediatrics because he is truly a child at heart. He believes that children are more impressionable than adults and enjoys working with parents to ensure their kids are happy and healthy. 

Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. Coulson is humbled by the tremendous amount of trust that his patients put in him as a physician. He strongly believes that physicians have a responsibility to educate their patients and stay up-to-date on preventative medicine. 

I love the responsibility, and I love the opportunity to teach. Sometimes education and preventative medicine are more important and more powerful than a written prescription.

Dr. Coulson completed his medical education at St. George's University School of Medicine - West Indies in 2003. He returned to Southern California to finish his internship and residency at Children's Hospital of Orange County in Orange, California from 2004-2006 and was honored to serve as Chief Resident for the following year. 

Dr. Coulson was born and raised in Orange County and believes that it is a great place to raise a family. He currently resides in Ladera Ranch with his wife and two sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, and volunteers as a soccer coach and Cub Scout leader. In his free time, Dr. Coulson loves cheering on his favorite sports teams as well as playing soccer and skiing.

This appointment was for my son’s 7 year old well child appointment. Dr. Coulson was very thorough, as we went through the past year’s activity. He always involved my son in the discussion as well which my son appreciated. My son even commented to Dr. Coulson that it was really nice talking with him. :) Dr. Coulson is great with kids - and parents! - and we are grateful for his care and expertise.
