About
Deborah Karm, MD, decided on a career in medicine because she is passionate about helping others live a healthy lifestyle. As an OB/GYN she helps guide her patients through some of the major occurences in their lives, managing everything from contraception to pregnancy and delivery, as well as endometriosis, abnormal bleeding and menopause.
I chose to pursue a career as an OB/GYN because it allows me to take care of my patients in all phases of their lives. I find these long-lasting relationships extremely rewarding.
Dr. Karm is a Long Beach native and is thrilled about this opportunity to serve the community in which she grew up. Though she has a particular interest in preventative medicine, she also operates and performs procedures, including minimally invasive surgery. Upon her completion of her residency at University of California, Irvine, Dr. Karm won the Michael L. Berman Award for Excellence in Gynecologic Surgery.
During her spare time, Dr. Karm loves to spend time with friends and family. Some of ther other favorite activities include: running, hiking, biking, reading and traveling.

I initially got recommended to Dr. Karm from my previous gynecologist, due to her departure. I am so thankful my previous doctor recommended Dr. Karm, because she is truly phenomenal. My first appointment with her, she explained everything well, took the time to answer all of my questions, and did everything in a timely manner. My second appointment with her, I got my Nexplanon replaced. She walked me through the whole procedure (before and during), and helped calm my anxiety for it. She made sure my comfortability was her priority the entire time. Even though I had a good amount of anxiety during the appointment, I knew I was in great hands. 10/10 recommend Dr. Karm.

During my visits, she spent the time to listen and answer my questions. Her answers were thorough, thoughtful, and based in science. If she was ever unsure, she would research it and then get back to me. I always felt secure in knowing that I was in great hands. She is absolutely the best and am lucky to have her as my OBGYN. She also has a group of incredible nurses who are efficient and kind. Every time I have messaged them (either via the Memorialcare portal or over the phone), they have responded back within minutes to at most a couple hours even to questions that are not time sensitive. When I have an appointment, rarely do I have to wait. The nurses get me in and take my vitals and information. Dr. Karm is usually close behind. Overall, she is the best at what she does and has a great team of nurses. If you are lucky to have her as your OBGYN or even get to have an appointment with her, you've hit the jackpot!

Fantastic doctorDr. Karm is always very thorough, listens to my concerns, responsive, and appointments never feel rushed. It’s hard to get in for an appointment with her, but that’s not her fault. I highly recommend her.
