About
Dr. Chen chose the field of Internal Medicine because he enjoys caring for his patients and helping them find answers to their health issues.
I grew up fascinated by the Sherlock Holmes character, and the way author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle endowed the character with unique observation skills. Doyle also invented many investigative techniques for Sherlock that are still used by real-life, modern-day detectives. I like to solve problems and an Internal Medicine physician is like a medical detective using sophisticated tools, tests, knowledge and a hypothetical “magnifying glass” to discover medical clues and formulate solutions.
Dr. Chen works with his patients to keep them healthy by focusing on preventative medicine, lifestyle choices, and educating them to know their important health numbers such as cholesterol and blood pressure. He not only enjoys caring for them, but he truly cares about them as well.
Away from the office, Dr. Chen enjoys working with computers, fruit tree gardening, and listening to country music.

I'm an RN and I can tell you that Dr Chen is very thorough and one of the best Dr's I've ever known. When I met Dr Chen the first time I had just been misdiagnosed by a Neurologist who said I had a cancerous brain tumor and he wanted to start chemo on me immediately. The Neurologist had read the scan wrong. Dr Chen read the report and he said that brain cancer grows in a mass and doesn't grow in a ring but calcium deposits do grow in a ring. I had a small ring in my brain in the exact spot where I had a hard blow to my head a few years prior. Dr Chen reads very deeply into things ..... he's a brilliant man.

Doctor Ihong Chen is the doctor of choice for my Mom, my brother and soon to be for me when I am no longer needing pediatrician. He is a tentative and thorough and thoughtful provider. Nothing but the best to improve our health. Honestly even if we move far away, likely we would not mind to drive far to be seen by him as he is top notch, a true gem in the medical field. This place is an absolute disgrace. ZERO empathy. I was 12 minutes late—12 minutes!—and they had the audacity to tell me I had to reschedule. Are you serious? I waited TWO MONTHS for this appointment, and now because of a tiny delay, I’m being turned away? And at no point did they ever mention anything about a grace period for being late. How are patients supposed to know this? Meanwhile, I’ve always waited at least 10 minutes, if not more, after checking in to see the doctor. But suddenly, now they want to enforce time like clockwork? The hypocrisy is infuriating. As a patient, I expect to be treated with respect and understanding, not dismissed like my time and health mean nothing. Unbelievable.

I strongly suggest everyone to avoid this doctor. He was my PCP from 2010 till 2014. When I had early diagnosis of CKD from my 2011 medical reports, he never informed me about this. He did not treat my other medical issues. When i had a different PCP from 2015, i found out about all my medical problems. He should not be practicing at all. He was always very concerned about ordering for any new tests, because he was worried about Insurance company expenses. I am surprised he is still practicing?

Unfortunately it felt like he didn’t listen to me at all. He never asked about my symptoms once and just typed things into the computer and read them to me. Left feeling like the visit was a complete waste of time and money. He was a nice man but did nothing for me .
